My Melting Heart ...

I hope you all had a fabulous weekend! It's been super chilly here in Los Angeles this weekend, but I'm loving every minute of it. My youngest son and I hung out for most of the day and I just have to say that he melts my heart!

I was involved in a hit & run car accident in January that has left me with a back injury, so I've struggled with the daily household tasks that need to be done. Today I was trying to do what I could to help out my hubby since he's been doing most the work since the accident. I went to get some laundry and my son walks up next to me and says "I want to do it mom".... Ummm, ok...... So he seperated all the colors for me and carried them to the washer. He then took the other clothes out of the dryer and "attempted" to fold them.... I just love him soooooo much!!! He really makes my heart smile :) I wanted to share with you all what inspires me on a daily basis.... Have a great week and until next time.... Continue to Create A Crafty Life ~

Yummy Birthday Cake ....

Happy Sunday! I can't believe the weekend is almost over, it went by so fast :( Well in my weekend blog brousing, I came across a couple of Fabulous blogs on a blog hop called "Motion & Folds Card Hop" hosted by Ellen at Card Monkey. I was really excited to have found Selina's blog "Mud Pie Reality" where she has a lot of great tutorials! I found a tutorial called "Three Tier Birthday Card" which inspired me to make the following card:

Selina really explains the directions so good that it made this card a breeze to make. I have a few birthdays to celebrate in the next month along with a couple of weddings, so I think this card will be perfect!!! Thanks Selina for the Fabulous tutorial!!! I hope you all enjoy the rest of the weekend, and until next time.... continue to Create A Crafty Life ~

Bunny Love

Happy Friday! I hope you've all have had a great week. I'm still battling the cold I've had for weeks, but I am feeling better. Since I've been in the house so much, I've had the urge to decorate for Easter (I know I'm early, but why not...). While looking at all my Easter decorations, I became inspired to make my first Easter card for this year.

I used scraps for the card and I decorated the edges with Martha Stewart microbeads and finished it off with a felt bunny and some pink grosgrain ribbon. My crafty mojo has been on hiatus since I've been sick, but I now that I'm feeling a little better, I hope to be able to craft all weekend :) I hope you all have a very relaxing couple of days with your family and until next time, continue to Create A Crafty Life ~

Simply Chocolate....

I hope everyone is having a Great Wednesday! I'm still fighting this cold that I've had for weeks, and the cold is currently winning. I did manage to sneak in a 3 hour nap today and I felt a little better after I woke up, but that didn't last long. I hope you've all been able to keep this never ending cold out of your homes. My entire family has had it, and it seems like it's not going anywhere anytime soon.

Yesterday I was able to get out of the house long enough to pick up some goodies at Michael's so I wanted to play with them today. I made the following card as a sympathy card for a woman who lost her father yesterday.

I used Me & My Big Ideas "Fashion District" paper along with a shiny brown cardstock from my scraps. I bought my first Tim Holtz Distress Ink pad yesterday in the Frayed Burlap color, so I add just a bit of color to the edges of the top layer.  I finished off the card with a velvet-like ribbon and a stamped chipboard with a little bling. It's a super simple card but I really love the colors. Thank you for stopping by and I hope you continue to Create A Crafty Life ~

Cricut Cartridge Chaos Challenge #7

I've made my first card using my Gypsy and I'm so excited!!! I have to be honest, the Gypsy has intimated me since I got it, but I decided that today was the day that we would get to know each other a little better. And what better way to break in the Gypsy than to work on a project for a challenge.

Two Scraptastic Gals along with Paula "More Than Favors" are hosting the CCCC #7 using the Paisley cartridge. After playing around with a few of the images, this is what I came up with:

For the nesting doll I used glitter paper along with a Peachy Keen Stamp from the "Laffy Taffy" set. I also tried my first rolled paper flower inspired by a recent Ustream hosted by Alex "You Had Me At Craft" & Ruthie "September Ninth", which was a BLAST! And if you aren't busy on March 18th they will be hosting another Ustream and I would HIGHLY recommend you join the fun, you won't regret it!!! Until then, I hope you all have a Great day and continue to Create A Crafty Life ~

Wacky Wednesday Challenge #26

Happy President's Day! Both of my boys are home from school today and I'm still feeling under the weather, but I wanted to make sure that I joined in on some of the fabulous challenges going on this week. I made the following card for the Wacky Wednesday Challenge #26 over at Paula's blog More Than Favors. The theme this week is weddings and this is what I came up with:

I use Tying The Knot Cartridge along with Crinkles Paper by Wausau Paper and the glittery ribbon came from Michael's. I have to be honest, I'm not in love with this card, but considering I'm on my 3rd week of being sick, I had to be ok with it not being perfect. Thank you ladies for stopping by and I hope that you continue to Create A Crafty Life ~

My Sweet Hippo

I hope you are all having a Great Weekend! Seems like I just can't kick this cold I've had for 3 weeks now, so I guess I will just have to stay home and craft :). Since hubby has been doing most of the work around the house, (which by the way I really appreciate), I've had more time to be able to play with some of my favorite cartridges and I have to admit that I just Love, Love, Love the Create a Critter cartridge! It has so many fun animials and honestly I love them all. Last night I created the Sweet Hippo below....

I used the polka dot paper from the Jo-Ann's pack "Baby Girl" and the ribbon I found in the Michael's dollar bin. You can't tell from the picture, but I put the hippo on a Action Wobble and it's so darn cute when it's going back and forth! If you ladies haven't purchased the Action Wobbles, I would highly recommend them. They really take your cards to the next level with the movement!

By the way we are really close to meeting the goal of 100 followers! You ladies are just Amazing and I can't believe we reached 69 followers in just a couple of days. As soon as the 100th follower joins us I will be giving away the Superman cartridge! Until then I hope you all continue to Create A Crafty Life ~

Valentines, Valentines, Valentines

It's been a few days since I've been able to be creative due to a terrible cold I've had that's been going around. When I get sick, I can usually keep up with my normal life, but this cold has really taken my feet out from under me and left me stuck on the couch. Today is the first day I can actually taste food again and let me tell you, I really appreciate french fries!

So since my head has been so foggy, I hadn't realized that next Monday is Valentines Day. I promised my youngest son that we would make his valentines cards together, which wouldn't have been a problem but our school is closed on Monday 2/14 so they are having their Valentines Day party tomorrow!!! Once I was able to get over the shock of having less than 24 hours to make 30 valentines, I was able to gather some supplies and make pencil holder valentines with a sucker as a bonus.

I found the tutorial on YouTube by Pantala40 and I loved how easy they were to assemble and I think they came out super cute! I hope you all had as much fun creating valentines with you children as I did! I'm still working on a giveaway for my blog that I promise to post once I'm feeling a little better. So until then, I hope you all have a Great weekend and continue to Create A Crafty Life!

Life Is Just .....

... Absolutely Crazy! As I mentioned before, this blog may sometimes touch on my personal life, and well... this is just one of those times. When I said that 2011 was going to be a year of change for me, I never knew that those changes would be so immediate. In the middle of January I was involved in a hit & run accident while I driving my 2 boys to school. I have been unable to return to work since the accident, which is a BIG change for me. I have come to appreciate how much I really do love my job and how much I enjoy doing what I do.

So now that I have all this extra time on my hands I've been able to play with my new Cricut Expression machine that Santa brought me for Christmas. It's just so much fun to use and it really offers endless hours of creating. I have been trying to learn more about my Cricut and the different options it offers, which to be honest, are more than I ever thought. In reading other Cricut theme blogs I find myself to be so inspired and excited about all the different ways I can utilize my machine!!!

I've also read how much everyone loves their Gypsy's and how it really opens up a new world with the Cricut, Soooooo.....

Yes, I know I should have stuck to the Expression first, but it seemed like the Gypsy was a must have to really get the most from my cartridges. But now that Cricut has revealed that they're releasing the Cricut Craft Room in April, I'm wondering if I really needed the Gypsy. Either way, I do like the idea of being able to create away from my computer and while I'm on the go with the kids. I just need to figure out the amazing things that I can now do with these 2 Awesome tools from Cricut! I have a few projects that I'm going to be posting later tonight or tomorrow morning and I will be announcing a giveaway that I plan on doing when I reach 200 followers! Thanks for stopping by and remember.... Continue to Create  a Crafty Life ~
